Photo Post 158: You, Me and The Silence Goes For Miles

You, Me and The Silence

After long time !! 2 months.

I just don’t get enough time sometimes and other times I get enough lazy to do all the stuff together.

That doesn’t mean I didn’t photographs though. I took. May be not that much, but still I managed time for that.

If you look at previous post then this photo connects to the same place and same trip. I remember I saw this couple sitting there and discussing something. I was actually trying to take an HDR of these rocks with green algae on top of them and the water. But I thought that if I take this couple in the photo, it may add an interesting perspective.

I asked them if I can include them in my photo and they said OK, so I took HDR including them. As expected, they moved in all my single photographs and that’s why my HDR processing didn’t go very well around that area (thanks to ghost removal option in photomatix to making this better). I didn’t like colored version and monochrome kinda gave me some connection between all the elements. So I finalized on that.

At the time of giving title, as they were looking in kind of opposite direction, I made it into a silence between two people situation and gave the title.

Editing: As I said it is an HDR, so that was done in Photomatix Pro and then minor touching in lightroom.

Thank you for visiting !!

Photo Post 156: Rainy Drop, Snoqualmie Falls Park

Rainy Drop

Rain is so common in Washington state that’s why this type of moment won’t be rare to find. Of course, sometimes some composition can be very special. That’s actually the challenging part for photographers in Washington state to really capture things beautifully and uniquely so that it can make difference from others.

Well, that does not mean that I’m bragging about this photograph. lol. It definitely got my acceptance to be in my small and good collection of water-drop photographs.

I like this photograph because it’s simple and beautiful. After taking 4 times and still not getting better focused photograph, this was the fifth and last try. I could spend more time but I thought this is the best I can get from my 18-55mm while it’s raining slowly.

I really feel that I’ve a better collection of photograph now, after I moved to Washington state. I will keep taking awesome pictures and keep sharing them :))

Editing: Mainly color correction using tint/temperature/saturation. Minor highlights/exposure/sharpness modification. Oh yeah…had to use graduated filter in some areas to get proper exposure balance. I think that’s all. 🙂

Photo Post 155: Coal Creek Falls, Bellevue, WA

Coal Creek

As I wrote before, I made a weekly habit of going out to an awesome hike or beautiful waterfalls around King County, Washington area almost every Sunday since last month.

I have visited ‘Twin Falls’, ‘Coal Creek Falls’, ‘Snoqualmie Falls’, ‘Discovery Park’ and ‘Kerry Park’. All amazing journeys, especially because of the photographs I took there. I have already share few on blog and will keep sharing more and more.

This one is from Coal Creek Falls. Small but beautiful fall just 5 minutes away from my house. Basically coal creek river flows there and there is a trail of 5 miles round-trip. Trail is almost flat for half the time and then it gets some good elevation. Overall an easy hike and waterfall at the end makes it special.

The orange part behind the fall looks really weird in real, because it’s just different from everything else in that area. When I took this photograph, it was the moment which makes a photographer think about composition. Even though it’s a fall and it looks beautiful, it is not structured nicely to create a standalone good photograph. A photographer has to think about getting proper other elements to complete a scene which may look pleasant to eyes. I tried composing differently and finally got it right. The mixer of fall, nice green plants and that trunk of a big tree on right side makes my photograph better now 🙂

Editing: Just color corrections, shadow/highlights adjustments and minor tint/temperature change.

Photo Post 154: Twin Falls Trail, Olallie State Park, WA

Twin Falls Trail

Taken during my hike to Twin Falls Trail. You may have seen these photographs: Photo Post 148 & Photo Post 149 . This photo was from the same trip. Don’t have much time to write full story today. Might write something later.

Editing: Used lightroom. Mainly focused on getting proper colors I like in this type of photograph. So for that, I changed temperature/tinting, individual color’s HSL shifting, highlights/shadows and minor contrast adjustment.

Photo Post 153: Upper Twin Fall Photo Art

Upper Twin Fall Photo ArtIf you’re following  my work since long time then you may know that I very much like to convert my photographs into some short of artistic or painting creation. Of course, I rely heavily on Fotosketcher for this. And I do feel that this software will definitely give fruitful results only if you already have a very good photograph and you know how to play with different parameters it provides. You can’t convert any photo into sketch/painting, by saying that I mean it will neither look good or natural.

After spending good time analyzing this aspect of photo to paint conversion,  I am now capable of thinking that which of my photograph will be good to convert as painting. So I had this photograph of broad view of Upper Twin Fall. I have already poster closer view as photo post 148. I was not liking original photograph because somehow it was not giving my satisfaction. Sometimes too many sharp tree leaves don’t suit to my taste, especially when they’re not forming any patterns. Then I realized that I can use brushstroke drawing parameter of Fotosketcher and it will definitely look something different.

So this is it. Looks beautiful to me 🙂

Editing: First of all I used lightroom and photoshop to make the photo as vibrant/colorful as possible without over-saturating it (because I knew that it will enhance the painting output of the photo). In same way, increased contrast by taking care of black/white level balance. Then use Fotosketcher to create the effect and again just a minor color saturation and cropping in lightroom.

I know it sounds like lot of editing but trust me it’s not. It’s just 3 steps if you know what you’re doing and how can you do it.

Photo Post 152: Snoqualmie Falls, Snoqualmie WA

Snoqualmie Falls

Went to see Snoqualmie Falls today. What a creation of nature !! I don’t have words to explain its beauty and atmosphere around it.

I was really not happy with my today’s overall journey because of super rainy and cloud weather !! Actually I checked the weather in advance last night. It was bit cloudy but really no rain. Today in the afternoon, as soon as we left, rain started. And unfortunately never stopped 😦

I was super excited to see this falls, so we kept continue and reached there. The park is very well built. There are upper and lower observation decks for visitor to enjoy this beautiful fall. Unfortunately hiking trail has been shutdown which goes 300 feet down. Damn…I really wanna go down there.

At first, I was definitely not ready to take my camera out and take photos while it’s raining but I saw some photographers who started taking photographs with help of their friends who were standing with umbrella over the camera. I was like….man !! I have to take photographs here…

I took out my camera, tripod and umbrella. Set up everything myself and took some photos. I was really difficult to keep the umbrella in one hand and take sharp n better photographs in manual mode of camera. And don’t forget constant rain and super cloudy weather !! But I got some good peaceful moments and I took few photographs. I was really not comfortable in the situation and was afraid of water ruining my camera. So I didn’t take many photos in the lower observation deck.

While we were going back to upper observation deck and then back to parking. I found awesome drops on trees and flowers and Bingo !! I got some lovely photos. I’m definitely gonna share them soon 🙂

I can’t wait to go back to Snoqualmie Falls in a bright sunny atmosphere (may be early morning sunrise time).
